Juan Mata Lopez
Juan has been fishing the Guanacaste coast since 2004 — 22 years of reading this water, its seasons and where the fish hold when the wind turns. He is a licensed local captain, he runs his own boat, and he answers his own messages.
He lived and worked around Toronto for a few years, which is why the day on board feels the way it does: on time, straightforward, and with everything already set up when you arrive at the beach.

Juan and his crew were fantastic. They were on time, met us at the beach and were very attentive. They helped us with everything on the boat, kindly and quickly. After fishing they cleaned and prepared some of the fish for us to eat right there. We highly recommend them.

Juan was great! We came to Costa Rica on a family vacation and booked several fishing trips. He is easy to reach and answers messages and calls quickly. I wanted to add an extra fishing day at the last minute and he made it happen. We caught two mahi mahi, a sailfish and a striped marlin. An incredible experience!
