Before you book

Questions we get asked

If yours is not here, send it over on WhatsApp — Captain Juan answers his own messages.

Where does the boat leave from?

From Playa Flamingo, in Guanacaste. Depending on the trip and the conditions, departures can also be arranged from Playa Ocotal or the Papagayo Gulf. Message us on WhatsApp and we will confirm the pickup point for your date.

How many people can come aboard?

Up to six guests. Every charter is private — you are never sharing the boat with another group.

What is included in the price?

Rods, reels and tackle, live bait, catch cleaning and filleting, lunch and snacks, and water, juice and beer on board. Bring sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat.

Can I cancel?

Yes. Cancellations made at least 7 days before the trip are free. If the weather does not allow us to go out safely, we reschedule or return your deposit.

Do I need a fishing licence?

Costa Rica requires a sportfishing licence for anglers. Tell us when you book and we will sort it out with you before the trip.

What can we catch, and when?

Sailfish and marlin run strongest from December through April. Mahi mahi peak from May to October. Roosterfish, snapper and tuna are caught year-round inshore.

Where can we stay nearby?

We also run CR Sunrise Villas Alice — teak capsule cabins in Huacas, about twenty minutes from where the boat leaves. Same family, one message for both.

Are children welcome?

Yes. Children are welcome aboard, and so is a cooler of your own drinks. Just let us know who is coming so the boat is set up for it.
